The Lesser Podengos were bred by mating Iberian wolves and Greater Podengos, possessing such qualities of the breed as endurance, excellent physical characteristics, independence of nature, independence. The ancestors of the Podengu Portuguese are greyhounds who migrated from the Iberian Peninsula to North Africa.
