Seashell-suspension "Owl"

The souvenir is made using the "Decoupage" technique with elements of painting on with acrylics. The seashell "Vieira" was found on the beach in the southern province of Portugal - Algarve. Our souvenir is filled with the warmth of the sun and carries the energy of the Atlantic Ocean.

In European tradition, the owl symbolizes wisdom. Owls were also credited with the gift of prophecy, most likely due to their ability to see in the dark. These birds are found on all continents except Antarctica. In total, there are more than two hundred species of owls in the world. Their hearing is sharper than any other birds. Owls have about 50 times more hearing sensitivity than humans. Owls cannot move their eyes, so their head is extremely mobile. They are able to rotate it 270 degrees, that is, 3/4 of a full turn. Their pupils constantly pulsate in time with their breathing, dilating and shrinking. Owl species preferring to hunt small rodents eat about a thousand mice per year. Owls' favorite food is hedgehogs, which they clean needles with their own claws. Peruvian pygmy owls weigh only about 30 grams, that is, only one and a half times more, than hummingbirds, the world's smallest birds. Owls have three pairs of eyelids - for wetting the eyeball, for protecting it and for good sleep. The lifespan of some species of these birds reaches 30 years.
