The full name of the "king of rock 'n' roll" is Elvis Aaron Presley, but the musician liked the biblical pronunciation of the name more - Aaron. He even planned to officially change his name. Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in a poor family in Tupelo, Mississippi, USA. Elvis Presley - the man who blew up the musical world of his time. He went from a scavenger to the king of rock and roll. Elvis received his first guitar as a gift for his 11th birthday. However, he was not happy, because then he dreamed of a bicycle. But for such a gift, Elvis's parents simply did not have the means. Elvis Presley never mastered musical notation in his entire life, but this did not stop him from becoming the king of rock and roll for all time. The path to fame began quite unexpectedly. At 18, Elvis just wanted to record a few songs as a birthday present for his mom. He contacted Sun Records. The sound engineer who made the recording rushed to show it to the studio owner, Sam Phillips. The man had been looking for a white artist for many years who could perform songs like a black one. Hearing Elvis, Phillips knew immediately that he was the one he needed. In fact, Elvis is not dark-haired, nature has awarded him with light blond hair. He dyed his hair dark because his blue eyes, combined with the resinous hair color, looked the most impressive on color screens. In addition, he turned gray very early, and dyed black until the end of his days. Despite the fact that in the 50s Elvis was already a popular artist, in 1958 he was drafted into the army. This circumstance caused a wave of protests among young people who demanded to cancel Elvis's call. However, this did not bring any result. In January 1956, 21-year-old Elvis Presley began recording his first single for RCA, Heartbreak Hotel. It soared to the top of the American chart, stayed there for eight weeks and became the first millionth circulation of Elvis. His first shooting began on August 22, 1956 at the XX Century Fox studio in the film Love Me Tenderly. Initially, there were no songs in the film, but sensing an unprecedented commercial success, the singer's manager Tom Parker hastened to introduce four musical episodes - as he invariably did in the future. Elvis' love of cinema was so great that he often rented a cinema and watched films all night long. He has starred in twenty-nine feature films, an average of three a year. On January 14, 1973, his performance in Honolulu was the first-ever concert to be broadcast to 40 countries via satellite. Elvis collected Cadillac cars. And he gave a pink Cadillac Fleetwood for his mother's birthday. The singer met his future wife during his military service in Germany. He was 24, she was only 14. After 8 years they got married, and after 6 years of marriage, they divorced. His daughter Lisa Maria was married to Michael Jackson for some time, and then to Nicholas Cage, who was a big fan of Elvis's work. The black glasses that Elvis often wore are not a fashion statement, but a necessity caused by a doctor's prescription. He suffered from glaucoma in his left eye. At the height of his fame, the king of rock and roll became addicted to drugs and medication. He died on August 16, 1977 (at age 42) from cardiac arrest resulting from an overdose.
